Because sometimes life happens.

So, I’ve just started the 30 days to self improvement challenge. Day one was going over something that I was proud of, so I showed my graduation. Today is the day where I am meant to start a journal. HOWEVER, I already have this blog, so I figure that instead of starting a journal, I’m just going to commit to writing here a little more often.

Sometimes, it’s good to put pen to paper (or just type on the laptop) to get out of my own head. It’s amazing how therapeutic it is really. I know my writing style isn’t perfect or polished, but I do actually really enjoy spending a little bit of time on the blog. The thing is though, I don’t actually know what you all want to know!

I know the last few posts have been quite down, as I’ve tried to work through areas of my anxiety, but actually I do lead a really happy life. I have the most wonderful HUSBAND, a wonderful group of friends, a job I love and a future I can’t wait to start planning properly. So, let me tell you about something wonderful in my life.

Today, I found out that I’m potentially being put on a course that will help further my career a tiny bit! It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I first qualified and it’s a step in the right direction. I’m also hopefully going to be working on a new working group soon that will really help the people I  work with. I know it’s not a lot, but it’s something to focus on. I love studying further and getting a little ahead. I think I might actually be addicted to University.

No, I don’t think. I KNOW. I spent 3 years at uni, took a 6 month break and went back. I’ve been out of uni for 9 months and I’m already looking at going back! Maybe I just don’t want to grow up.

So there you go, something a little less dreary, and a little (vague) insight into my life!

I’m going to try and start blogging here around 3 times per week.

Speak to you soon, lovelies.

Hospital Trips.

A long day in hospital but a wonderful man to look after me.

Today I had to go in for my keyhole surgery to see if we can work out what’s going on with my body! Thankfully, I got a couple of answers so now I’m just relaxing at home to recover. Continue reading “Hospital Trips.”

I apologise.

I’d apologise, but sometimes we need to make time for our families.

To my body.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry about the amount of processed food you’re about to eat over the next few days. I’m sorry about the lack of exercise you’ll get to counteract it. I’m sorry about the tiredness you’ll feel.

At the same time though, I’m not sorry.  I’m not sorry because my Granddad is here. I’m not sorry because my Granddad is treating me. I’m not sorry because I don’t know how long I have with my Granddad so I’m not wasting it feeling guilty.

I promise I’ll make it up to you when I hike and get you back into shape. Until then.

Motivation at an all time low.

Staying healthy is hard. If someone says it isn’t they’re either lying or they have amazingly good willpower. For us mere mortals though, it’s difficult.

A couple of years ago I made the decision to join a gym that ran weekly exercise classes – those ones where you feel as though your muscles are never, ever going to work again – and to change my eating habits. I wasn’t big as some people might define, a good size 12 nudging towards a 14 – these are UK sizes and I have NO idea what that equates to anywhere else – but I wasn’t happy. I didn’t wear things I wanted to because they just didn’t look right. Within 8 months I had abs. Actual abs. Not amazing six packs abs, but there was some definite definition there.  Continue reading “Motivation at an all time low.”

A healthier me!

The other day I asked for your guys advice on whether I should juice or blend. Blending seemed to completely over ride any juicing thoughts I was having.

So, let me introduce you to my new morning smoothie.

(Apologies for the blurriness of the photo). I’ve decided on the following fruits; strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and grapes along with some biopot yoghurts… so yummy! I’ve also tried healthier lunches… chicken and feta salad with a side of carrots and today a yoghurt.

Well, my 5 a day are in, are yours? What are some yummy smoothie recipes you’ve tried and enjoyed?

In an attempt to be healthier.

Before I started working, I was definite I was going to buy protein world products and a juicer and have smoothies for breakfast on the way to work, eat really well and have an amazing body… well, now I’m having second thoughts.

A lot of reviews I’ve seen have said that Protein World is a waste of money, and I have no idea if I need a juicer or a blender for the best results!

I’ve been trying to get in shape/be healthier for a long time, and I finally have the funds to do it properly… lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, regular exercise, stopping the bad food and drinks, but now I want to step it up a bit. I thought smoothies for breakfast was a great idea, now I’m not so sure!

So, I come to WordPress in search of answers from those with experience or opinions on the matter. I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts on this.

Have a healthy week!
